Number 3 on my list of 10 of the best places to eat is Jerry’s Italian Bistro.

As a dedicated foodie, I love to find places where the food is delicious, satisfying, and where the quality and freshness of the ingredients, and their culinary finesse make each serving an orgasmic adventure. This is Jerry’s Italian Bistro.

The spectacular taste of the food at Jerry’s can be summed up in two words: “Lobster Ravioli”. But if the lamb chops are on special that night, have those instead, or in addition to your plate of lobster-filled ravioli swimming in what appears to be a creamy vodka sauce. Dip your bread into the sauce and take a bite first. Then you’ll feel it’s only reasonable to lick your plate clean.

So far, I’ve not been able to sample everything on their menu, but I’m working it. The portion sizes are more than adequate. The prices are not “Long John Silver’s” prices. This is a fine, family run establishment where you must bring your own alcoholic beverage, if you want to have that kind of drink. I was just as happy with their iced tea since my entire focus was on the luscious dinner in front of me.

For ten dollars, I carried to my hotel enough food for my dinner and breakfast, and any snacking I was drawn to in between. I had work to do once I got to the Millennium Hilton, but I have no memory of what I was working on. I can say that I remember every succulent bite of lamb, the freshly roasted vegetables, and the softest, most delicious flat bread and creamy baba ghanoush I'd ever had.

Yes, before you say it, I am nuts, but good food is good food, no matter where you find it.

Two years ago, I was in NYC on business in the heart of Manhattan’s financial district. The company I worked for was located on Broad Street, just about 2 blocks from the New York Stock Exchange. While there, my dining experiences ranged from Bobby Flay’s Mesa Grill, to an upscale sushi palace, to room service at the Millennium Hilton Hotel, to a vegetarian “all you can eat” restaurant, to street vendors in food trucks serving breakfast items, hot dogs, and my very favorite of them all, Mediterranean food.

For ten dollars, I carried to my hotel enough food for my dinner and breakfast, and any snacking I was drawn to in between. I had work to do once I got to the Millennium Hilton, but I have no memory of what I was working on. I can say that I remember every succulent bite of lamb, the freshly roasted vegetables, and the softest, most delicious flat bread and creamy baba ghanoush I’d ever had. I instantly became envious of anyone with an ethnic identity that made what I was having on one evening, their standard fare. I think my eye rolling began at the first smell of lamb as I lined up with the food truck’s other patrons. Once settled into my hotel room, I nearly passed out from the pleasure of my first bite.

New York street vendors serve up just about any kind of food imaginable. And, if you’re watching your budget, they are an economical way to have the finest food at affordable prices. My favorite vendor was across the street from the corner of Broadway and Pine. I hope they’re still there. Check them out!

Seriously, you could make a meal of Texas Land & Cattle’s mushroom gravy, a few slices of their fresh bread, and a dinner salad.

The first time I tasted TL&C’s mushroom gravy was on a chopped steak. First I have to explain that it may seem unusual to have chopped steak when this restaurant has the best rib-eye steaks known to humanity, but if you are wondering that, you have NOT tasted their chopped steak.

It comes with a rich, brown mushroom gravy that, as the saying goes, “makes you want to slap your mama.” Since I was having a rib-eye steak sandwich, medium rare, aged and cooked to perfection, I ordered a side of gravy for my otherwise plain baked potato.

There was moaning, sighing, sparks flying from my plate, and the best server ever, Todd, who I’m sure was trying to get me a room at the hotel next door.

Our favorite Texas Land & Cattle Steakhouse is located in Bedford, Texas. Check out their website and do a little eye rolling and moaning of your own!

I had the enormous pleasure of re-visiting Chef Point Cafe in Watauga, TX for the best meal I ever ate. Crab stuffed artichoke bottoms filled with crabmeat and smothered in a cream sauce that makes you wonder why other foods are necessary. Cioppino that is so delicious and luxurious that you want to ask the chef to build on addition to his kitchen for you to live in. And Chef Point Cafe’s award winning bread pudding. What can you say about a dessert that is so wonderful that it robs your mind of all thought other than “MORE!”

If you live anywhere in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, it’s definitely worth the drive to Watauga to taste some of the best food on earth. A menu that varies from seafood and italian, to the down home goodness of hamburgers, fried chicken, and their Acquired Taste Specials. Do not be shy, you will not be dissapointed.

Visit the Chef Point Cafe web site. Then go visit the restaurant!

Welcome to Foodies in Love, a site dedicated to excellent food and interesting eating experiences.

This foodie lives in the Dallas/Fort Worth area of Texas. Although I have, on occasion, been privileged to enjoy food and cuisines from other parts of the world, I live here, eat here, and love to find ways to make both more enjoyable.

As I find interesting restaurants, diners, cafes–even street meat, I’ll share my reactions to the dining experience.

There is also a “Top 10 places I like to eat” section, and I hope you’ll agree with my choices. And one last feature will be recipes that my family and friends have loved enough to threaten to take me hostage for until I cook them again.

Happy eating!
